Biography

Prescott Tong (b.1984) lives and works in Los Angeles. His work is based on themes of identity, belonging, and the human conditions, reflecting on his experiences as a first generation Chinese-Vietnamese American. All of these different approaches centers to the theme of “Time and an exploration of life in motion…”. “My work is about time, it’s passing, the fleetingness of a moment and the impact memory has on us as humans.” Working primarily in oil on canvas, Tong meticulously renders depth, light, and shadow to create monochrome works that strip away color in favor of timeless narrative and emotional focus.
